My AEG has stopped working, what could be wrong?
An AEG is like a car it needs to be lubricated and maintained or it will FAIL.
There are several things that can go wrong but first let’s look at the electrical system.
The #1 one thing that can go wrong is the connection at the motor. During shipment the box is thrown from one place to another. Also normal everyday use will cause the electrical connections to come loose.
Always check to make sure you have a tight connection at the motor.
You may even have to re-seat the motor by lifting it up and re-seating it back in the gearbox.
Check your FUSE. Is the fuse blown? Are the connections clean and in place?
Check your battery with a volt/ohm meter.
Check your wall charger with a volt / ohm meter… Does your battery get warm on the charger? If not you’ve got a bad charger or a worn out battery.
Do you leave your battery connected to the wall charger for hours on end? Warm batteries mean damage to the battery. Always plan to get a smart charger with a discharger and you can make those expensive batteries last a long time.
How to read charging rates: If your wall charger states 300mah that means it will charge 300mah per hour. If you have a 1200mah battery the dead battery charge time would be 4 hours. Example: battery rating 1200mah / wall charger mah 300 = 4hrs.
Never ever mix up the polarity of the battery with either the wall charger or wire connections on the gun. Check your wire connection red on red / black on black. The gun will not work unless the polarity is correct.
The next biggest problem is using crappy bb’s in your AEG. Automatic Electric Guns REQUIRE high quality seamless bb’s PERIOD!! You will jam the rifle and magazine with low quality inferior bb’s. You will also destroy your hop-up system and barrel. I don’t know how many times that I’ve seen this happen so please spend an extra couple of dollars and buy high quality bb’s. Please note: LaRoys Airsoft only sells high quality bb’s that are seamless.
If you have a high-end aeg please do not run 6mm .12gram bb’s through the gun. Stick to .20 gram or higher. Why? Less jams and better accuracy. The heavier the bb the better the accuracy but the lower the FPS “feet per second”.
If you do not see SEAMLESS bb on the bottle or in the description DO NOT buy it! Words of wisdom from an experienced Airsoft enthusiast.
How do I lubricate my gun. AEG’s and gas pistols are one in the same when it comes to maintenance. Always have a can of Silicone oil spray available. Silicone spray will not destroy the ABS parts of your gun unlike WD40. Silicone spray can be used on all moving parts, rubber seals etc. and you can actually clean any ABS parts as well. DO NOT use ARMORAL…… Try to clean your barrel and hop-up assembly with silicone oil after each use. Trust me, the gun and its parts will last longer if you do.
If you have checked all your electrical connections, checked and removed any jams and know that you’re wall charger and battery are working correctly we now need to focus on the gearbox.
